What base plate did you put on your BMI Wolfers back when you were running them? I remember when I was looking at getting them from you you had them all base plated. WOW that seems so long ago. Were those custom made or did you pick them up at a trap shop?

LOL Tony, you know "Back in the day" neither of us knew squat about trapping let alone equipment. I'm just lucky enough to have a close friend that has a metal fabrication shop (the one I took you to when you came up last summer) that is more than willing to fab me anything I ask for. I started out having him fab me the base plates out of .125" x .750" x 4.00" (that's 1/8" x 3/4" x 4" for those not up to speed on the decimal system) and weld them on with a wire feed (Mig) welder. These seemed to help "Beef" the trap up if you would but I was still experiencing problems with this "So Called" Coyote trap!

Back in the day. ;D ;D ;D ;D That still kills me. Kids say the dang-est things. Heck my wife even got in on that one.
I thought that is what you had done, but was not for sure. I was mainly using mine for fox and cat at the time and only using them for coyotes when needed. I had some problem with the jaws popping ever once in a while when I took coyotes though. I know the chain needed to be changed out to a heavier chain didn't it?

LOL I still laugh over that. Yes I was still having issues with the trap after base plating. I seemed to be getting ALOT of foot damage and after further investigation I found the chain to be the cause. Unfortunately trap mfg cut cost by using cheap twin loop chain instead of machine or twist link vhain as well as cheap swivels or lack there of. I replaced the center swivel with a D-ring and added 3 links of USA made machine chain then a MB crunch proof swivel, 3 more links of chain and another swivel in hopes I would finally be done with the mods?
