I myself use a military issue pack that I've modified a little to carry what I need, works great, you might also try hiking bags, you could modify them a little to fit your needs, nothin to it, if you want it bigger just cut it down the back on one of the seams, get some canvas or an old tent, double it up, get some good glue, glue inside, put the canvas in, glue the outer piece, then sew it up around the seams, done, my cousin did his the same way but added eyelets & run small bungee cords thru them for adjusting, I did the same with my pack, alot more comfortable than a bucket.

I get it, 8 years later, but I use an alice backpack with an aluminum frame that was from the military. I have not tried the pack baskets, but I would say that you could probably find an alice pack cheaper and more comfortable than the pack basket. Just my opinion though, everybody is different.
