The last few days have brought the first taste of fall. Fall always gets me pumped up and thinking about trapping season. So to get us thinking about the upcoming season, i figured we could talk about what everyones plans are for the upcoming season.
Most of the local parishes have gone to a beaver bounty program. I don't believe in bounties, so i won't be participating, but i am sure every tom, dick, and harry will be. In an effort to combat this, i am going to spend more time land trapping this season. I am going to try to target bobcats a lot more and improve my cat trapping ability.(not the easiest, because i am a way better water trapper than land) Also, after finally trying a few lil-griz last year, i will purchase some this year to use.
So what are your plans for the season?

Clint I am taking a different approach this year as well. I think I am going to do more water trapping this season instead of land trapping. What I am planning on doing is year is hitting all my land spots hard and fast instead of stringing it out over the season. I have found enough ground that I can run before work and I feel that I can slap in enough quality sets to take 100 plus gray fox in a few weeks. My goal is to cover more grand with less traps only setting the hot spots that are easy to get to and leaving the back sides and extra sets out of the picture.

Tonight is my last night on the rig. I got a boat ride in the morning. Gona spend the Friday night in Mexico, then fly into Shreveport Saturday night!!! Sunday and Monday will be spent packing!
My trapping season opens the middle of next week! I'm headed to Wyoming! Gona trap in the high country for marten. After I get my marten line out, I'm going to punch in some beaver, coon, and rat sets down in the valley. I'll be there for a couple weeks!
December will find me harassing the beaver, coon, otter, nutria, cats, and hogs here in northwest Louisiana. I've got a friend comming from West Virginia to spend 3 weeks with me. We gona see just how many we can stack up!
The end of January throught the 3rd week of February will find me playing in the mud and water all over. Got a couple lakes to trap and gona run a boat line on Bodcau.
Other than that, I'll have to make a couple trips to Mexico for work so I'll able to afford gas money for all my trapping adventures!!!!
