In Louisiana and most other states,it is required on wildlife management areas during the open gun deer season.I do not know about Mississippi, but it seems most states are going in the direction of trappers wearing it on any public land during the open gun deer seasons. With some of the yahoo's out in the woods during deer season on public ground,I would still be worried, even with a complete hunter orange suit.If I were trapping anywhere on public land during the open gun deer season,I would wear at least a hunter orange cap and vest, bare minimum and pray the Good Lord was watching over me.

I got a written warning on the wma last year, after deer gun and primitive weapon season was over, for not wearing orange. We debated the law for about 30 seconds. And to be safe, just consider yourself a hunter. And hunters are required to wear at least a hunter orange hat during rabbit season on a wma. Don't know about MS. If you're not hunting waterfowl, wear orange and save yourself the hassle.
