I use a trowel myself, but I am looking into the cordless drill with auger for next season.

There aint nothing wrong with cost effective.....I was wondering in most types of soil is it easier to make the hole with a auger?I see these fellows buying all the hi dollar traps and im wondering how i caught so much with the averaged priced ones in days long gone?I have some #3 Dukes that will put a pretty good grip on a yote.

I was raised on less expensive traps and learned the old timer way to keep them working even when they were wore out to the point of losing critters. I was taught just like you state, I can catch critter with lower priced traps just as good as I can with them high dollar ones. Well, once you have spent a season running the high dollar ones you will see the difference and never look back. Not knocking the lower priced traps, just stating fact. I hate working on traps, I like trapping. I will also have to say, my catch ratio went up 100% after changing brand traps. Why? Traps that would be fired and pulled out of the bed now held animals by a toe teaching me where I was missing and how I had been missing. Kind of like loving that beat up old toyota of mine. Wouldn't trade it for anything. It gets me from point A to point B. Till I rode with my co-worker in his nice big smooth Chevy.

My figuring on the hi dollar traps is they would be money well spent if you were going after them high dollar yankee cats bring hundreds of dollar a skin. But it just too much for me to consider spending my dollars on for the the catching of southern skins.

Tks for the info! Ill always be a water trapper at heart.Butttttttttttttt the yote population has to be brought down are there will be no rabbits left for the dogs to run.And its looking like they(yotes) need to be targeted on land to be more effective in reducing there numbers.
