Here is are a few videos on how I wax my traps. Having the wax hot enough it the key to getting a good thin coat. Once the wax is hot enough, you need to leave the traps in the wax till they are the same temp as the hot wax. This will keep the wax from clumping up on the traps and allow all the excess to drip off.
This is what traps look like when they are not allowed to get up to the same temp as the wax pot. You can't just dunk the traps in the pot and pull them out. You have to leave them in the pot till the wax boils again, other wise, the wax will cool as soon as it comes out of the pot on the traps leaving heavy build up.
This is a close up of traps that were allowed to get to temp. You can see how smooth and even the wax coats them.
