No matter what brand you chose to utilize, they could all stand a little tinkering straight out of the box.
I take all but about 1 inch of travel out of the trigger wires. This is most easily done with a small dremel tool and a grinding rock. For step by step instructions on this, go to trapperman.com tips page and look at the way Charlie Dobbins did them. This will really help elliminate hip caught otters! It will also give you a lot more neck catches with beaver and coon.
I replace all the factory chains with 8 feet of 7/7 3/32 cable. I attach a fast snap on the end of the cable. This is simply for speed. It's nice not to have to carry wire! And you won't get twist offs with the cable.
And don't forget to get a coat of something on your coni's. I use spray paint, but the options are limitless. Just be careful if your gona wax them. Make sure you get all the wax off the bar where the dog sets.
I am not a fan of any type magnum bodygrip trap. Reason being, I DO NOT want to hold an animal in a bodygrip by the foot! I had rather simply whack the animal and let him be on his merry way a little wiser, than to do unnecessary damge by a poor hold.

I have 1000 Sleepycreeks for beaver and ad some chain and a stake swivel on the end so otter dont twist up and get out . I didnt trap for several years between the 80s and about 5 years ago and had bought about 4 doz. bmi 110s for mink to discover they are gone from here! I dont have anything else to use them for.

I'm kinda partial to those "Hi-Dollar" ones known as Belisle. Sure are fun to try and get out of when you wind up wearing one! ;D
