Hey guess I just want to say hi and I am new to trapping. We have a really bad yote population around the house I have plenty of land to trap them on. I have about 40 old traps that are kinda rusted up in the barn from my grandpa and was wondering if I could change out the springs to some #2 on them? also whats the going price on Fur? bobcat, yote, and coon? Thanks for the help.

What brand traps are they? I am sure you can change the springs but the make sure it will be worth it. As far as fur goes all the reports I hear look up, but they have always looked up even when pelts were going for $1 each. When the price is as low as it is now there really isn't but one way to go. Cats I know are looking up, but I still don't think we will see any record breaking highs on them this year. As far as coyotes go, if you don't have a live market to sale to and it anit a black on going to taxi trade, it will cost the price a bullet to put it down. I just moved some coons on pvt treaty and the avg was much lower than the May sale, but they still moved. Find a meat market, protect it and don't allow any foreign meat to be brought into the state from other states.

What a guy! Wesley you are just tooooooooo good. There are about three fur buyers left in the state. You will need to skin them and freeze the hides till your ready to sale unless you put them up yourself.

Thats what I do. I skin the animal properly and then roll them up tight with the fur side out and put them in a wal-mart bag and tie the bag tight. I freeze them until the day before the buyer gets them. If somebody can post the fur buyers phone numbers then you can see when they are gonna be in your area or where you need to go. Dont expect to make a butt load of money but properly skinning your animals can make a few bucks with a lot of hard work. Like Tony said, coon meat to fish markets is an avenue you may try and get a few more dollars. As far as coyotes, catch em all and if you need to learn how to catch em, come to our convention in April and we'd be glad to show you a trick or two. That goes for any animal. Good luck this year and my number is 337-375-1932 if you got any questions. Get some good how to videos from any supply store and you will save a lot of errors.
