Not for fur trappers. There is a post on here somewhere, had the same question when I first moved here.

No tag required for fur trapping. NWCO are suppose to tag their equipment. There is a reason for not tagging traps here. It has to do with dog running and trappers.

What we had done through our dept. of wildlife is we created an lifetime issued trap tag number along with the 1-800-25ALERT number on the bottom. This way any issue with a trap r a trespasser at night would be handled through them and not the dog man knowing who the trapper was and the trapper not even knowing there was an issue. When I was a kid I had a dog Hunter call my house to tell me he'd be waiting on me in the morning. Well, it backfired, we went looking for him and he hid. I had pinched his beagle on a property I had permission to trap and he did not have to hunt. I think this day when I was 13 stuck with me until I was president of our statewide trapper organization and we got this change. So far, this change our organization got through has worked pretty good for us. You guys may want to look into something like that down there.

After reading again. You're better off now than fooling with the ID number but if you ever have to tag down there look into the number and not a name.

NWCO's have to tag their equipment and I did work hard to make sure that you can tag with our trappers license number, nwco permit number or if wanted name, phone number, ect. Our hunting/trapping license are attached to drivers license in LA and stays the same year after year.
