Sorry if this has been covered somewhere in the forum, but I can't find it. I keep seeing different references to beaver hides as blanket, toilet seat, etc, when describing size. It's not a big deal, I'm just curious. Does this refer to the ring on the board? Is there a chart somewhere that shows the different names? I read different methods of determining the ring size to use (anxiously awaiting JC's DVD) and have a couple of beaver hides in the freezer that I'm hoping to try to finish soon. At this point, I'm still hurting raccoon hides on the beam.. LOL! But they are starting to look better.... Thanks!

Size goes by inches. Width plus length = size. 65 inches is considered blanket by most. Go to the NAFA site for detailed info on sizing.

Like Eric said length plus width. Length is generally only measured 1/2"-3/4" in front of they eyes, so the nose is not counted in the measurement. 65 inches or over is considered a blanket, and a toilet seat is exactly what it sounds like, small enough to look like the size of a toilet seat! At NAFA the top two sizes are sold together, so the lots with be labeled 2x-3x. Not sure at FHA. Here was the first thing that came up on google, with all the pelt sizes. Beaver is on the first page. www.furharvesters.com/pdf/peltsizes.pdf
