With the season soon upon us, what do you prefer for alligator bait when using the traditional line and hook?
Personally, I usually use chicken parts.

Fish heads, beef liver or beef melts.

If your stomach is tough enough, 3 day old dead chickens from the chicken houses. They are a little rank, but will call in the gators.

I let my chicken parts (usually backs or legs) "cook" in the sun for a day before using them.

When I was in school, we would buy some young chicks and raise them for about a month. Then when the season would come around, we loaded them in a cage and brought them to our camp and would take about 20 a day with us in a cage. We would kill them as we needed them and cut them in half for bait. After I finished school, we switched to beef melt, which wasn't quite as good as the chickens but it got the job done.
